Wake the Hell Up

The hour has come for you to wake from sleep.

REFLECTION

Hear me out.

I’m pretty certain Paul would have had some choice words out of our lexicon if he were writing to us today.

I’m not trying to be crude; I want to impress on you the validity of the idea, though.

I get a bit lost sometimes, thinking scripture is outdated or not applicable to modern life. It helps to douse myself in stark language that matches the intent of the scripture with the ears of today’s audience.

The night is gone; the day is here.

Get busy living or get busy dying.

There are turning points scattered through are lives.

Big ones. Ones of particular lucidity.

When you’re presented with the choice to continue into more of the same. To pull the covers of addiction up to your chin and drift back into a pleasant dream.

Isn’t this where we’re used to being? Where we’re comfortable?

Or we can meet the dawn’s brisk air, wake the hell up and start living.

It’s an open invitation.
