Action
This is a great time to pull the plug on this project, if you haven’t done so already. Seven weeks of memory verses is fine.
But if you’re ready to dig your heels in a bit more, this week’s verse shouldn’t take a day or two to lock down. We are, after all, only memorizing one little bitty sentence. You can do that, right?
Here’s our eighth verse of the year:
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a hope and a future.
Implant the truth. You got this 👊

Reflection
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:1
You know, this is really good news.
But for the newly sober, for the Christian who can’t stop, for the spiritually bankrupt, for the betrayed, for the skeptic, for the atheist, for the ordinary people caught in extraordinary pain...
This can feel like another weighty promise for someone else.
Take a moment, though.
Pause.
Don’t dismiss this as biblical dross.
As we sober, clean up our lives and begin to direct them toward being useful again, we’d do well to put this truth at the forefront of our minds.
The past is irrefutable, but we have the hope of grace, we have the opportunity for a new life that others have died before grabbing hold of.
We’ve been given a chance.
And that’s what life is anyway, right?
A chance to walk forward. With many paths diverging and many choices leading us towards or away from his will for us.
Having regretted walking the wrong way for so long, could it be that our hardships were preparation for the path to come? And if so, we ought to hold our heads up and continue by the light of the truths we now live under.
We have been set free, but we better keep walking toward Him.
God, clear the path ahead and strengthen my faith in it.
