Wise Failure
time is a tyrant

TRUTH
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
John 14:18
REFLECTION
Don’t most of our failures result from a resignation?
I’m not talking about the small errors we commit daily, or even the big blunders that come as a result and in spite of our best efforts.
I mean the soul-level submission to the lesser way.
The bent knee to the things we used to despise.
The compromises that begin to come more quickly than in years past.
Despite my greatest wishes and the summation of the short term view I choose to take half the time, there is no way I can muster the requisite strength, peace and serenity that my heart longs for.
I turn to simple replacements in the down time between the tasks of the day. I fill up on the dregs of mediocre entertainment. I search longingly for something.
I’m content with not fully understanding what I’m seeking so that I don’t have to be fully accountable for finding it or not.
I’m a drifter and a dreamer, and I’m not good at either.
I lack the resolve to give myself over in full force, and I lack the courage to dream from a fiery heart.
And here’s where the resignation happens.
Seemingly stuck, there appear a thousand simple pleasures, and they’ll never run out when I start to feed.
I never get quite full, but there’s always more around the bend. I never really go anywhere, but I’m always moving.
I never really rest, but the restlessness counts for something, right?
God, I’ll need some help at some point…
