Truth
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.
Romans 16:17
Reflection
Yes, it matters a lot who we hang out with.
The touch of new sobriety can impart susceptibility.
Not everyone we meet is on the path we are looking for.
Not everyone is playing the part they should be.
Should we be paranoid and suspicious at all times?
Not necessarily.
But cautiousness and common sense will go a long way.
We no longer have the luxury of infinite acceptance.
Actions breed consequences breed life and death.
If we are to live, we need to be pulled out of the rut we’ve been in. We need good friendships.
This comes more with more difficulty for many.
Friendship used to be brewed from shared experiences that revolved around drinking.
Now, we must move past this shallow land.
We begin to sense how much more there is.
We begin to see how frail our experiences have been.
We begin to see the jagged road we’ve somehow driven to this point.
Nothing to it but to continue. Eyes open now and trained ahead.
God, I’m not where I want to be but I’m glad to be moving.
