TRUTH

For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

REFLECTION

Well, this is good news.

It doesn’t exempt us from the law of the land and for recompense according to what we may have done during our addiction.

There are often hefty tolls to pay.

But this supersedes all of that.

This offers a freedom in the face of difficulty.

This speaks toward the condition of our souls despite the flagrant position of our lives.

It’s not free, but it’s pretty close.

The cost is both deeper and less than we might imagine.

Grace is given to all. Freedom waits on the other side of acceptance. Salvation is available to any who would examine it, weigh the cost and walk toward it.

But to think it’s a wave of a wand is foolish.

The new trials of the beginnings of a life of faith carry the same burdensome weights that our life in addiction did.

We must give up ourselves to this power that is greater than us. We must submit to its will in the hope of a greater reward.

It’s the inverse of how we were living.

And the good news we realize along the way is that he’ll carry the burden for us if we let go of it.

God, I want to let go.
