How are the verses coming along?
This week, we dive into the New Testament and pick up a section that’s all about our attitudes.
A friend of mine told me that I have control over my attitude; feelings are information not instructions.
Food for thought…here’s week three’s verse(s):
12Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
13bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
14And above all these things, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
This doesn’t have to be hard. Practice it for a few minutes every day.
You got this.

Reflection
The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.
Psalm 9:9-10
On the loose rocky edge of the ascent to Mt. Leconte, you’re presented with a view of the rolling beauty of the Smoky Mountains.
There are several opportunities to pause and behold. But watch your step.
As you turn from the trail, it’s a mere couple of feet to a precipitous fall. And the view from here is only a glimpse of the true summit.
As we sober, there are daily opportunities to pause and pat ourselves on the back.
Let someone else do it instead.
We must keep our eyes on the path, knowing that the true summit may not be visible, but is not out of reach.
When we do catch ourselves admiring the good things around us, the blessings of sobriety and the grace of our Creator, take a breath, look down, remember where we’ve climbed from.
Give thanks. We were in no shape for the ascent when we started. But one step at a time has indeed brought us far.
We must go further still, though.
Let your thanksgiving be an ignition for your next mile.
Remember that God is our stronghold, but that doesn’t mean he's stationary.
God, let me lean forward and keep going.
